Sarah Gillespie is a superb and highly talented lyricist, guitarist, poet and artist. TOR Records was delighted to release her third album “Glory Days” in January 2014. The cd release of the album had a series of superb reviews from The Guardian, The Independent, Financial Times, Mojo and more. The band on this album featured Gilad Atzmon (who also produced the album), Ben Bastin, Enzo Zirelli, Kit Downes and Marcus Bates. All exceptional musicians and on top of their game on this superb album. Check the gig guide and go see Sarah live. Highly recommended.
My review of the Glory Days album
“Every now and again you hear an album that stands out from the rest, something that makes you think, something that is so unique that it merits repeat listenings. Well that’s what happened when I first heard Stalking Juliet back in 2009 and again with In The Current Climate in 2011. Ms. Gillespie’s latest album, Glory Days released in 2013 is even better than its predecessors and I’ve been playing the cd for over 6 months now. The album is highly personal and is dedicated to her late mother. Musically, it is both uplifting and moving and as always, highly lyrical. The sound is stripped down in comparison to the previous two albums and reminds me of Dylan’s Desire in overall feel and mood. The playing of Gilad Atzmon (numerous instruments), Kit Downes on piano, Enzo Zirilli on drums and Ben Bastin on double bass is exceptional throughout leaving room for the lyrics to rise and fall in the most glorious way. Atzmon’s production is superb throughtout, a man who knows his way around the studio and someone who should be utilised by many artists. One of the albums of the year”
